Have You Tried The Food?!

The restaurants in Winters are off the charts on the Richter scale of deliciousness! In fact Winters has become a destination place because of their world class fine dining and quaint old town atmosphere.

Putah Creek Cafe- Mexican Corn Pie and chips. is a favorite but all of their dishes are cooked to perfection. There really isn't a fail on Putah Creek Cafe's menu- at least not that I have experienced in the 30 years I have gone there. The breakfasts are terrific and the portions are like what Goldilocks found- not skimpy, not too much, just right. They are open for dinner as well- the variety is nice, I liked the fried chicken with mashed potatoes special I had a few times... They also had a really creative yummy chicken marguerita pizza special cooked in their really cool pizza oven. The service is friendly and outstanding! You have seating options- outdoor street side seating or inside- both are nice.

Try their cookies! And bars! And the pies and cakes! They have a full bar and serve wine and beer. Does it get any better!? Go there! There's a reason there is a line out the door.

The Buckhorn- For decades the Buckhorn has been the destination for that special dinner event for the region not just Winterites. They are famous for the Tri Tip. There is such creative variety you absolutely will find something and won't be disappointed.

Oceans- Some of the best Chinese is cooked up right here under our noses in Winters. Family run they do a fantastic job. The portions are generous. Lots of options- If you like Chinese food, go there!

Chueys- They serve authentic Mexican food with good variety. They also cater- they know what they were doing. The food is delicious.

The Myth, Legend, The El Verduzco Taco Truck in Winters California

by Aaron Geerts

"El Verduzco, what does it even mean? It wouldn’t surprise me if it were the Aztec god of deliciousness!

First and foremost, disregard any nay-sayers for they love soggy french fries stuck in between car seats. This establishment is sought after by the high school students of Winters, the workers at Mariani Nut Company, and darn near everybody in a 50 mile radius.

My go-to is a carnitas burrito with sour cream and a soda, Jarritos to be exact. What’s that? Tell you about the burrito?

Imagine the Marvel Avengers of food teaming up to attack your taste buds. You got your toasty tortilla perfectly wrapped, the crispy yet succulent carnitas pork that opens the flood gates of flavor into your mouth. The Spanish rice, soft and perfectly proportioned with the beans keep you wanting more. Is there cheese? OF COURSE THERE’S CHEESE!!

Come hither and enjoy this 4-wheeled culinary experience of epic proportions!"

Near Railroad Ave & Grant Ave/Highway 128 in Winters, CA.

El Pueblo Meat Market and Taqueria- They serve up some authentic Mexican food here plus you can buy meat! Its great! A local known secret is they also have really great hamburgers!

With three excellent Mexican food restaurants in town why not try them all for comparison's sake if not for the sheer enjoyment of this delicious cuisine.

Pizza Factory- Did someone say pizza? Every kind of pizza imaginable with tasty ingredients, their pizza scores high. Their salad bar offers a variety that includes everything one would want on a salad. They offer other delicious options as well. They serve beer and wine.

Round Table- Round table... who isn't familiar with Round table? Variety, a salad bar, beer, wine... They always do a great job.

Carboni's Ristorante- "Carboni's was carefully crafted to deliver lasting culinary memories that will inspire you to return time and time again." The atmosphere is contemporary and elegant. If there was room in this post I would include a gif with kissing the fingers and saying "Mama mia!"

Three Italian restaurants each with a different style and atmosphere.

Preserve- Plagerizing from their web site that says it best- "Surrounded by some of the richest agricultural land in existence, Winters is also uniquely rich in culture, history, family and community. We aim to showcase this abundance while we continue our path forward here at Preserve." Creativity is abounding here. From the fantastic decor, indoor/outdoor seating, to the creative drinks at the full bar to the off the chart food... and then add smiley faces and friendly people.

Green River Brewing & Taproom- For a unique, fun experience go here. Green River Brewing & Taproom is a self-serve taproom and restaurant. They have a Beer Wall that hosts 25 beers on tap you can sample and refill yourself. Their Chef prepares unique, chef-crafted meals using seasonal, locally sourced ingredients. Seasonal weekly live music in their "park" along Putah Creek on the outdoor stage, and inside the restaurant lounge, are popular events that people come from all over to enjoy.

Hooby's Brewery- I am impressed by the owners... commitment and creativity, they have done a terrific job in a comfortable place to sit with indoor/outdoor seating from which to enjoy a variety of brews and wine along with some think-outside-of-the-box-deliciousness-food. The Caesar salad.- the special pickled red onions is thinking outside of the box and is a fantastic flavor explosion in your mouth- do that. Take a seat at the sidewalk seating and enjoy the "scenery" or on the patio. Relax. Enjoy. Then walk across the crosswalk to The Queen On Main- it's that close!

Ficelle- "Ficelle" (pronounced fee-sell, there's no "s" at the end) In their own words, "Inspired by our mother (and her friends), grandmother, and friends' mothers’ way of enjoying life and people, we opened Ficelle with the idea of recapturing that feeling of hospitality and community... and we are constantly evolving in that effort. Though we serve tapas (or small plates), and tapas originated in Spain, our menu is not limited to one type or style of cuisine. We incorporate food from our Spanish heritage, the Mexican & California cuisines prevalent in Winters, and any other type food that seems interesting that crosses our paths."

They provide indoor seating as well as patio seating. Its a good experience you will be glad to have enjoyed. The Sangria. Do that.

Steady Eddy's- Every small town has a local hang out- this is it. Need a quick cup of brewed crafted coffee? Here ya go, dis is da place. (Italian impersonation) Whether you’re just starting off your day or you need a quick pick-me-up, come on in to your local coffee shop. Enjoy a gourmet sandwich, sweet pastry, or a blended treat today. Locals enjoy it- that's always a good sign.

Road Trip Bar and Grill- They're killing it with fantastic food! Their delicious food and fun decor, always smiles abounding... you can't come away being anything but glad you made the short trip up the road to Capay. It's a relaxing and nice drive in the country. The service is spot on and I always smile when I go there. Everywhere you look is a funny sign. Positive vibe.

Grocery Stores- They aren't restaurants but they are food so we are including them here. Winters has two options for groceries- Lorenzo's Town and Country Market or Dollar General. If you are desiring of more gourmet or a wider variety of food, Nugget Market in Vacaville or Davis will suit you to a tee. Vacaville also has Sprouts, Whole Foods, Safeway, Raley's and Lucky's. Davis has a Trader Joe's. If you desire for the staff at The Queen On Main to shop for you that can be arranged. There is a fee for that service. The kitchen at The Queen On Main is fully equipped with all that you will have need of for meal preparation.

If you desire reservations made, our Concierge Service will be happy to arrange that for you.

Bon Appetite!
